[Edanian Journey] Sylvia

Chapter 14: The Warmth of Returning Light

Through the opening in time, my strike pierced Goyen and reached Hadum. Goyen refused to release his sword, binding time to the blade and holding Hadum in place. Space-time split around him, and a new flow of time began to take shape.

Then I heard Illezra's voice from within Hadum.

"It's time to return to your rightful place, Sylvia."

The flame of Ynix carried by my strike reached Illezra. Hadum's world, engulfed in fire, fractured into countless possibilities. In a void where nothing remained, I found myself facing Illezra. We looked at each other, no longer the same as when this journey had begun.

"You have done your job well, mercenary. And now, it is time I paid you... with my life."

The end of our long journey was finally in sight. Even then, I had no intention of forgiving her.

"Still, allow me this one farewell. Every day spent with you was precious to me. I speak from the heart. And bid you... farewell."

I simply watched her go.

The rift in space-time that had held me briefly began to fall away. At Goyen's shout, I drew on my strength once more. In that instant, he vanished, and my strike reached Hadum.

I thought I heard Illezra laugh in the final moment, but when it was over, only light returned.

It was time for me, too, to return to those waiting for me.
