Chapter 3: The Years Behind the White Hair
Illezra and I passed through Aal's land and headed for Voidekaia. She did not know what had happened to Goyen either. After wondering aloud how much time his white hair represented, she cut the speculation short and urged us on. We would have to find Goyen and get the answers from him ourselves. Guessing would not bring us any closer to the flame he had taken.
By the time the aerial fortress came into view, Goyen was falling from the sky. We fought through the monsters blocking our path and rushed to him. The man who had defeated me in three exchanges could barely catch his breath.
He said that after Zephyros, he had wandered Outer Edania, readying himself to face Hadum. But the moment he touched the Godslayer's Armor, he became trapped in a strange pocket of space-time. Time itself lay frozen there, while only an endless void stretched before him. As he explained, I could not take my eyes off his white hair.
Goyen had endured so long in that place that he eventually forgot who he was. With every memory gone, he had been forced to begin again from nothing. He said that only after reclaiming his true self and atoning for his mistakes could he return here to shape the future. Those words carried a weight I could not ignore.
He called Illezra Sylvia and pressed her about the danger of Ynix that she had kept hidden. Hadum herself had been unable to extinguish the flame and could only dismantle it and keep watch over the pieces. Only then did I begin to understand that whoever wielded Ynix would not be safe from it either. And yet, even the restored Ynix had failed to so much as wound Hadum.
Then dark energy suddenly swallowed us. When it cleared, we found ourselves within Hadum's domain.
Goyen caught Hadum's attacks in the wind and hurled them back at her. Illezra fought beside him, but even together they could barely hold Hadum at bay.
Goyen finally forced Hadum back and wrapped me in his power.
Retrieve the will of Ynix from your past self.
The rest of his words faded into the distance. My vision blurred, and before I even knew where I was being sent, I was cast beyond time.
